Allina Health EMS Paramedic Student Scholarship Program

Application and Process

Allina Health Emergency Medical Services (AHEMS) is proud to offer support toward tuition expenses to help you grow and advance in your career through the Allina Health Paramedic Student Scholarship Program.  AHEMS will dedicate a total of $25,000 in scholarship funds to employees in $2,500 awards. 4 awards will be offered Spring 2022 and 4 awards will be offered in Fall 2022.

Employee eligibility and expectations

  • Employee must be currently enrolled in an accredited Paramedic program, and be in good standing with the school. Candidate must show proof of acceptance into the Paramedic program.
  • Candidate must maintain employment at Allina Health in a benefit-eligible position (0.50 to 1.0 FTE) and remain in good standing while completing the program (applicant’s most recent annual employee performance review needs to be rated at least a “meets” with no active corrective action at the level of a Written or Final Written Warning.
  • Candidate must successfully complete and graduate from the accredited Paramedic program
  • *Employees are eligible for the award even if received in previous years (employees can only be awarded the scholarship 1xper year)

Scholarship award

  • The scholarship award is subject to employer (Allina Health) and employee federal and state tax withholdings and will be added to the employee records to be issued on your W-2. Awards will be reported as taxable earnings, but the taxes withheld on the W-2 will be company paid taxes
  • Scholarship award will be paid directly to the school in which the successful clinical scholarship recipient is enrolled.

Important 2022 Dates:

Spring 2022 Scholarship Award:

  • Applications Accepted – March 27, 2022 through April 10, 2022
  • Interviews – April 11, 2022 through April 22, 2022
  • Scholarship Award Notifications – By May 2, 2022
  • Scholarship Award Payment to School – May 2022

Fall 2022 Scholarship Award:

  • Applications Accepted –  October 2, 2022 through October 16, 2022
  • Interviews –October 17, 2022 - October 28, 2022
  • Scholarship Award Notifications – By November 7, 2022
  • Scholarship Award Payment to School – November 2022
