New Allina Health provider emphasizes the importance of cancer prevention

Kathryn Schwalbe, DO, is a general surgeon with Allina Health proudly serving the community where she grew up. She is seeing patients at Faribault Medical Center and Owatonna Hospital, as well as Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
The Northfield native’s educational pursuits took her to the Twin Cities and later Iowa, before she came back home. Now as a general surgeon, she emphasizes the importance of cancer prevention.
“Being able to prevent a cancer is far and above, way better than reacting to a cancer diagnosis and managing it on the back end,” said Dr. Schwalbe during an interview with Faribault Daily News where she stressed the importance of colonoscopies.
