From ice cream truck owner to RN: Allina Health nurse shares principle behind her journey

[KARE 11 News, August 14, 2025] Breanna Seibel lives by an important principle: kindness matters. It’s something that Breanna, who is now a nurse in the emergency department at United Hospital, has kept in mind for most of her life. It started when she bought and managed her own ice cream truck as a teenager to help pay for her studies at Hamline University. She said this taught her early on that how you treat people truly matters.

She then experienced it on a much deeper level when she was a patient at United Hospital. Her care team went above and beyond to help her and her newborn twins through a tough stay in the NICU, and she hasn’t forgotten it. Throughout it all, she says her nurses taught her how important it is to care for the whole patient.

A short time after her hospital stay, she saw that kindness expand when she became a nurse at United Hospital. Breanna was struck by her coworkers taking her under their wing and helping her grow as a nurse.

“Having good coworkers makes all the difference,” Breanna says.
