Brent Baker, Kris Parrow, Patrick Rooney, Jennifer Olson, Zach Tucker and Nick Tucci were recognized for their response on June 14, 2025—the night of the assassination attempt on Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. The suspected shooter is also accused of killing Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman, her husband, Mark, and their dog.

“In a moment none of us could imagine, our paramedic teams showed courage, professionalism and genuine care for others—in the way they responded, and in the speed at which they responded,” said Josh Shepherd, Allina Health market president, Regional Hospitals and EMS.

Police officers from Maple Grove and Champlin, along with Sen. Hoffman’s daughter, Hope, also received the Lifesaving Award during the ceremony held in Champlin in late October.

"You responded to the unfolding attack without hesitation. What you provided for myself and my family that night is beyond words and beyond scope," Sen. Hoffman said in a news release issued by the city of Champlin.
