As the largest private hospital in the Twin Cities, Abbott Northwestern is recognized nationally and locally for its exceptional expertise and care. Each year, the hospital serves more than 200,000 patients and their families from across the Twin Cities and Upper Midwest.

Abbott Northwestern will continue to provide care and services to patients and their families during strike by SEIU Healthcare Minnesota-represented technical workers

From 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, technical employees represented by SEIU Healthcare Minnesota at Abbott Northwestern Hospital are on strike. During this time, Abbott Northwestern will continue providing safe, high quality care and services to patients and their families.

The union is conducting this 48-hour strike in relation to current contract negotiations.

Allina Health is committed to negotiating a contract that is fair and equitable to all of our employees and the community.

Pedestrian and driver safety:

  • For the safety of those involved, and in compliance with State law, everyone is asked to bring their cars to a complete stop before entering and leaving the hospital grounds.
  • Drivers are reminded to exercise caution around pedestrians at all times.

Restricted visiting guidelines 

To protect the health and safety of our patients and staff, effective June 29, 2020, Allina Health has instituted a one visitor per patient policy at all its hospitals and clinics and other locations. Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus revitalization project

A 10-year, multi-million project will create a new Central Utility Plant and Transportation Hub/parking ramp to serve Abbott Northwestern Hospital, The Commons and the 10th Avenue Facility.

Construction to support the Central Utility Plant is planned for mid-September to mid-December. Entrance and exit roads from 28th Street to the Founders Mall will be impacted for the first four weeks.
