Allina Health to hold Buy Local Forum to support supplier diversity

Allina Health’s collaboration with Vizient’s Community Contracting Program expands opportunities for Minnesota and western Wisconsin businesses.

Allina Health is holding a free Buy Local Forum Thursday, Aug. 29. The event, sponsored by Allina Health and Vizient, is designed to help diverse local businesses in Minnesota and western Wisconsin learn more about how they can participate in a Community Contracting Program. The goal is to connect diverse small, local businesses with Fortune-500 corporations, advocacy organizations and health care providers. Registration is required.

The scheduled panel discussions are:

  • Corporate Supplier Diversity
  • Facilities & Construction
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Supplier Diversity & Health Equity

Allina Health joined Vizient's Community Contracting Program in 2023 to lead a new economic development and impact strategy. The goal is to expand business opportunities for local, diverse suppliers with health care providers and other community-based organizations and large employers in Minnesota.

“We look forward to this event and continuing to strengthen our connections as a community partner. At Allina Health, our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging commitments extend beyond our mission as a care provider to our roles as an employer, purchaser of goods and services and a community partner,” said Tom Lubotsky, vice president of Supply Chain at Allina Health.

Allina Health’s guiding principles include promoting the inclusion of businesses owned by women, BIPOC, people with disabilities, veterans and people who identify as LGBTQ+. By shifting more spending for supplies and services to diverse local businesses, Allina Health will help fuel job growth and create an economically sustainable ecosystem that’s good for the health and well-being of patients, too.
