United Hospital Pharmacy Internship
The United Pharmacy Practice Internship was created to provide a comprehensive learning experience in hospital pharmacy practice. The intern will have the opportunity to work and learn about the distribution system of a hospital pharmacy, complete medication histories and explore different clinical areas.
- High School or GED required and
- Completion of one year at an accredited College of Pharmacy preferred or
- Enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy working towards a Pharmacist degree required or
- Foreign-trained pharmacist working towards state Pharmacist licensure required
- Less than 2 Years experience in Pharmacy preferred
- Pharmacy Intern Certification/Registration upon hire required or
- Pharmacy Intern Certification/Registration if registered Pharmacy Technician upon hire within 1 Year required
- Project time for the department (up to 16 hours paid per year)
- Mini-rotations in the intern’s area of interest such as cardiology, surgery, oncology, critical care and more.
- Designated pharmacy preceptor
- Career guidance and mentorship
- Leadership position available as lead intern during the third year of school
- Topic discussions with residents or preceptors
· Flexible scheduling that is driven by
the interns
· Training in various areas of the
pharmacy department
· Intern specific duties
Our pharmacy internship starts with learning about our central pharmacy and its dispensing and compounding operations. The intern will progress and have more clinical and direct patient care opportunities throughout the internship.
