Academic Clinical Student Rotations:

  1. Allina Health only accepts students from schools that have an active Clinical Experience Agreement between the Academic Affiliation and Allina Health.
  2. Background Study: Allina Health requires the Minnesota or Wisconsin DHS (based on opportunity location(s)) for all academic students.
  3. Immunizations: All students and onsite faculty, including Allina Health employees, must meet the Allina Health student requirements for immunizations:
  4. Must complete all onboarding requirements as listed in Clinician Nexus for the opportunity.

Additional Requirement for Nursing Degree Programs: Nursing Faculty Licensure Requirements (Onsite and Remote/Out of State):

The faculty of record for students in nursing degree programs (RN, MSN, DNP, CNS, etc.) must be licensed as RN and APRN to match the student degree in the state/s where the experience/opportunity is occurring (see Board of Nursing: 6301.2340 - MN Rules Part and Wisconsin Board of Nursing - N.108 (3)). This applies whether faculty is on-site or out-of-state.

  • Academic experiences/opportunities in Minnesota require an unencumbered Minnesota Nursing license/s with current registration and Minnesota DHS Background Study.
  • Academic experiences/opportunities in Wisconsin require an unencumbered Wisconsin Nursing license/s with current registration and Wisconsin DHS Background Study.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Most schools/programs require that the preceptor not be family, friend, or someone the student works with during their employment hours.
  • Shadow Observations and Tours outside an academic experience/opportunity are not managed through our Allina Student Experience Team. These requests are managed at the site level.
