Before your surgery

Checklist

• Contact your surgeon's office if you are planning to visit the dentist within one month before your surgery.
• Schedule your health history and physical exam.
• Schedule your pre-surgery education class, if offered at your hospital.
• Select a member of your care circle to be your personal support coach.
• Review the hospital pre-registration information.
• Review this section of the website (which corresponds to the printed manual) and all other handouts given to you.
• Review and complete your paperwork, including any surveys.
• Make a list of all your current medicines.
• Call your insurance provider with any questions you have about your coverage.
• Talk with your family, friends and others close to you (your "care circle") about your needs after surgery.
• Important: Please have a member of your care circle drive you home and stay with you overnight after your surgery.
