ADHD Medication Shortage

[WCCO News, October 09, 2023] Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders among children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Children with ADHD may be highly active, have trouble paying attention and may struggle to control impulsive behaviors.

Many doctors prescribe Adderall to help their patients manage the symptoms, but we’ve been dealing with an Adderall shortage for about a year now. As the shortage lingers, parents are looking for ways to help their children. David Nathan, PSYD LP is a psychologist with Allina Health. He spoke to WCCO about how he helps patients learn tactics to help manage their symptoms. And as always, he advises families to talk their primary care doctor to see if a therapist is a good fit for their child.

October is ADHD Awareness Month.
