Teen volunteer opportunities

Unity volunteen

The VolunTEEN program consists of young men and women ages 15 to 17 years. Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and discover new talents and abilities. Mercy Hospital  – Unity Campus welcomes teens interested in volunteering and invites you to join in its service.

 


Commitment

  • VolunTEENs are asked to work one 4-hour shift every week in a service area of their choice at a time convenient to them.
  • This is our minimum requirement; volunteers may work more often if they wish.
  • Most departments offer three 4-hour shifts, seven days a week 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12-4 p.m. and 4-8 p.m.

Requirements

  • Fill out a VolunTeen Service Application.
  • Attend an orientation meeting to learn more about our program.
  • Complete health requirements (Mantoux test, MMR documentation).
  • Complete department training.

Service areas

  • Lobby desk
  • Gift shop – Handle merchandise sales for visitors and hospital staff
  • Messenger service – Assist with deliveries and errands; assist with patient discharges
  • Patient-care floors
  • Other areas
