Emergency response

Our status management and priority medical dispatch systems ensure the best-equipped ambulance and best-trained professionals arrive at the scene.

We annually respond to more than 100,000 emergency calls. Allina Health Emergency Medical Services crews respond exclusively to medical emergencies at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.

Emergency ambulance service

Our paramedics and emergency medical technicians respond to emergency calls and handle transfers between health care facilities, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This requires expertise in airway management, electrocardiograms and other life saving methods.

Critical care

Allina Health EMS Critical Care provides specialty transport upon request to both Allina Hospitals and Clinics, and Non-Allina facilities. Our Critical Care division is comprised of Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians who have received specialty education and training in all aspects of the care and transport of critically ill patients and associated life support equipment and devices using the Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification (BCCTPC) curriculum in addition to a yearly mandatory education requirement tailored for the critical care team.

Examples of transport requests include patients requiring ventilator support with associated care during transport; neonate, infant, and pediatric patients who require care during transport to NICU or PICU units; and virtually any other critically ill patient requiring life support during hospital to hospital transport while receiving ICU level medications or treatment with ICU specialty devices.
