TeleStroke

TeleStroke: Additional hospitals are equipped with a special video technology that allows a stroke neurologist from one of Allina Health's certified Comprehensive Stroke Centers to examine a patient who's miles away. This partnership allows accurate and prompt diagnosis of stroke so that important treatment can begin.

Every Allina Health hospital is recognized as stroke ready by the state of Minnesota. That means every hospital is prepared to evaluate, stabilize and provide life-saving emergency care to patients who exhibit symptoms of stroke. All sites have access to experienced stroke neurology specialists either in person or via TeleStroke 24 hours a day/7 days a week. 

Certified Comprehensive Stroke Centers

DNV-GL certified comprehensive stroke seal Abbott Northwestern and United Hospitals have been awarded certification as Comprehensive Stroke Centers.

Certification as a Comprehensive Stoke Center is recognition that the hospital is able to offer the highest level of treatment and care available for stroke patients, including advanced neuro-interventional radiology, neurosurgery, and neuro-critical care services.

Stroke rehabilitation

A stroke can happen at any age. The physical, mental and emotional impact of a stroke can range from mild to severe. The goal of rehabilitation is to regain as much independence as possible.

Stroke support

Stroke survivors face unique challenges. Care coordination can help you access the wide variety of medical, rehabilitative and supportive resources available. Connecting with others who've had similar experiences through a support groups also can be helpful.
