Volunteer opportunities are available for undergraduate kinesiology, exercise science and human performance students who are preparing for a career in Physical or Occupational therapy.

Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute has several locations through the twin cities area. Volunteers provide assistance to therapists and clients as appropriate under the guidance of a physical therapists and rehabilitation therapy aides. This is a great opportunity to learn about the profession of physical and occupational therapy and earn the observation hours for application for your advanced degree programs.

Volunteers commit to one 3-hour shift per week for a minimum of three months or semester. Shifts are available Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – Noon and 1 – 4 p.m.

The Transitional Rehabilitation Program (TRP) is high intensity post-acute inpatient rehabilitation center. It is a nationally known center of excellence for brain injury, stroke and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. It also serves people with multiple traumatic injuries and neurological conditions. Volunteer positions are also available in our Outpatient Therapy Department.

An Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program for patients who require close medical monitoring and management of conditions that can impact the rehabilitation process.

Outpatient pediatric programs; in-therapy children have the opportunity to engage in play activities with other children at the craft table, or work with their therapist in private treatment booths. Children can dress up, play games, make crafts and play with developmentally appropriate toys targeted to their individual needs.

Physical therapists evaluate and treat a wide range of diseases and conditions like ACL injuries, broken bones, concussion, torn ligaments, shoulder separation, sprained ankles and repetitive motion injuries. They also do rehabilitation after joint replacement surgery and offer the CycleSMART and RunSMART programs.
