Orthopedics Internship Program

The Allina Health Orthopedics, formerly known as Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists, intern program was established in 2003 to provide outstanding college students pursuing a career in sports medicine an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the various components of a medical practice. Candidates are expected to start with basic anatomical knowledge, an understanding of scientific research methodology, as well as demonstrated interested in orthopedics and sports medicine.

The intern program consists of three core components: administrative, educational, and clinical. While in the program, participants work closely with orthopedic surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, physician's assistants, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, and a PhD biomechanist. Participants are expected to attend weekly Grand Rounds presentations to review anatomy, pathology, procedures and treatments. In addition, each participant will complete a presentation based on their internship experience and future educational and career goals.
