
The Allina Health PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program (Ambulatory) offers immersive training in ambulatory care and practice management, preparing residents to deliver Comprehensive Medication Management across diverse clinical settings.
Our site has appreciated our 9+ year partnership with the University of Minnesota’s College of Pharmacy PGY-1 ASHP-accredited program as we grew and improved our site’s program. With Allina Health’s dedication to grow Medication Therapy Management pharmacy practice within the health system, we are excited to pursue ASHP accreditation for two PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Programs starting with the 2026-2027 residency cohort (currently have pre-candidate status with ASHP).
PGY-1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY-1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
