New Vikings Quarterback raises awareness about alopecia

[WCCO Radio, November 07, 2023] New Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs uses the spotlight that comes with playing in the NFL for advocacy. He has alopecia areata, which results in hair loss. Because he is so open about it, WCCO radio wanted to learn more about the condition. They reached out to Allina Health dermatologist Elizabeth Farhat, MD to explain what it is.

“I always think of it like an allergy. So instead of being allergic to Poison Ivy or something like that, the immune system actually goes to the hair and attacks the hair itself,” said Dr. Farhat.
