Allina Health and the Cultural Wellness Center’s Slow Roll Twin Cities teamed up for a helmet decorating event to kick off an online video series called “Helmet Hair – Tips for Hairstyles that Support Active Living.” thanks to Allina Health and its partnership with Free Bikes 4 Kids MN, the helmets at the event were provided for free.

“The Slow Roll community realized that the fastest growing community of riders is Black women, yet the number one reason given by Black women for not riding is hair care,” said Anthony Taylor, founder, Slow Roll Twin Cities, an initiative with the Cultural Wellness Center. “We reached out to stylists who live an active lifestyle, and they agreed to help us put together videos showcasing hairstyles that look good and work with a helmet.

All were invited to take part in the helmet decorating event at Midtown Global Market. Many of the attendees then left together on a bike ride.
