When doctors dismiss concerns of women and people of color

[Minnesota Public Radio, April 27, 2022] Women and people of color are more likely to have their symptoms dismissed by health care providers, according to multiple studies. They show doctors are slower to diagnose women with cancer and heart disease compared to men.

Dr. Lisa Saul, president, Mother Baby Center clinical service line, Allina Health, talked with MPR News about the complex topic of medical gaslighting: how it affects patients, reasons it happens and some of the efforts being made to overcome this health care concern.
