Reducing the use of opioid painkillers

[WCCO-TV News, April 12, 2021] Opioid pain killers are frequently prescribed for patients after they return home after surgery, but up to a third of those prescriptions are misused and abused. At Allina Health's United Hospital, anesthesiologist Dr. Lisa Koenig says they are actively working to use alternative, non-narcotic pain medications and are having good success reducing the use of opioid medications.
