[Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, November 26, 2019] The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, an independent, non-profit research group that is housed in Abbott Northwestern Hospital, plans to create what it says will be the world's "foremost" research hub on women's cardiovascular health, kicked off with a $5 million grant from well-known philanthropists.
The MHIF is conducting a search for a leading women's cardiologist to head the new center. That process is expected to take about a year, said Dr. Scott Sharkey, the MHIF's chief medical officer. The foundation will also build out a supplementary team of physicians, statisticians and assistants.
