What you need to know about kidney donation

[KARE 11, August 30, 2019] When family members of two women needing a new kidney took to the state fair with signs seeking donors, it sparked media stories and then, lots of questions from the public, the biggest being, how do you donate a kidney and what does it involve.

Dr. Mark Hill and Dr. Peter Lund graciously took time out of their busy days to answer KARE 11's questions..

Dr. Hill is a transplant surgeon at Allina Health and works directly with donors and recipients in the operating room.

Dr. Lund is a general adult medicine physician at Allina Health. He helps donors and recipients prepare for the kidney transplant, walking them through the risks, the benefits, and the possible outcomes after surgery.
