High-tech robot being used to detect lung cancer at Allina Health's Abbott Northwestern

[KSTP TV, May 23, 2019] A high-tech robot is being used to help detect lung cancer at Allina Health's Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

It almost looks like a droid from a Star Wars movie, and it's run by a remote that looks like an X-Box game controller. It's called the Auris Monarch, and doctors who have used it say it's the newest, quickest way to help detect lung cancer.

"What it allows us to do is get so much farther into the lungs with a lot more precision and control," said Dr. Jonathan Hovda of the Minnesota Lung Center at Abbott Northwestern. There are only 10 of the robots in the world, and only one in Minnesota.
