More blood pressure meds recalled by FDA

[KARE 11, March 18, 2019] Another round of blood pressure medications are being recalled. That makes at least six recalls of blood pressure meds in the last month because of a potentially cancer-causing impurity.

"Huge problem," says Allina Health cardiologist Dr. David Hurrell. He says there's a been a large number of recalls over the past year with blood pressure meds. The latest being 43 more lots of Losartan Tablets.

"One of the chemicals found is touted to be a carcinogen," said Dr. Hurrell.

But he has some advice for you. "Don't stop your medication until an alternative is found or until they can verify it's safe from their pharmacist."
