Finding ways to keep older workers in a tight employment market

[KSTP TV, March 03, 2019] According to Minnesota Census numbers, more Minnesotans are turning 65 this decade than the past four decades combined, and employers are watching closely. That includes healthcare organizations like Allina Health.

Dr. John Lundgren has worked at Allina Health System's Shoreview clinic since 1978. But, about to turn 70 this summer, Lundgren is getting ready to retire. He says he's taken time over the past year to say goodbye to his patients, and he's already cutting down his hours.

Allina Health President and CEO Dr. Penny Wheeler says it's one way the company is trying to keep its valuable older employees a little longer.
