Having a baby and planning for your family is an exciting time filled with many hopes and dreams. It’s also a time filled with making big decisions, asking important questions and maybe even calming a little bit of nervousness. As the pregnancy care and childbirth experts at Faribault Medical Center Birth Center, part of Allina Health, we are here for you during one of the most special times in your family’s life.
Our multispecialty care team includes:
You’ll experience labor and delivery in a comfortable, private and spacious Labor Delivery Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) suite. All suites include private bathrooms, Jacuzzi soaking tubs, flat-screen TVs, wireless internet, rocking chairs, sleeper chairs/sofas and plenty of room for families and friends to gather and celebrate.
You’ll have pain control options to keep you comfortable during labor and delivery. This includes epidurals, hydrotherapy and an array of holistic/natural tools.
Caring for your baby in your room gives you an opportunity to learn about your baby's unique personality, infant care and feeding. Your nurse supports you and your baby in the comfort of your room. Breastfeeding and baby care are offered 24 hours a day by our highly trained staff.
Beyond the pleasant setting and the one-room approach, the Birth Center is staffed by a team of specialized nurses. This group focuses on moms during each stage of labor and offers well-informed follow up education as the parents prepare for taking their new baby home. In addition, we offer “dinner for two” or a “family pizza party” in the privacy of your room to celebrate this most important family event. We are proud to be a part of your birth experience.
Our nursing staff provide education, support and assistance to nursing mothers throughout the hospital stay. Breastfeeding pumps, supplies and nursing aides are part of the tools used to assist each new mom toward breastfeeding success. Follow up lactation support continues after discharge by phone and by outpatient appointment. On-going lactation support is available through community resources such as the weekly, community Baby Stop Program, held at McKinley Early Childhood Center, Baby Café in Owatonna and through Rice County Public Health Nursing.
Our virtual care partnership with newborn specialists at Children’s Minnesota gives you added peace of mind if your baby has any health concerns.
Our doctors partner with newborn specialists at Children’s Minnesota when needed. This gives your care team 24/7 access to neonatologists and neonatology nurse practitioners. They use audio and visual technology to connect in real-time. Both teams partner to create the best care plan for your newborn.
