Our values and program aims are our North stars as we guide our Allina Health Neuroscience, Spine and Pain Institute, as well as our residency program. By providing leadership on the educational level as well as the professional one, we ensure care success for years to come.

Mission statement

Our mission is to train compassionate neurologists with a commitment to lifelong learning and dedication that provides patients with neurological disorders with the exceptional care that restores health, prevents illness and promotes comfort within our communities.

Program aims

 

  • To instill a lifelong habit of inquiry and encourage residents to make significant scientific contributions to the field of neurology by performing research activities and participating in local and national meetings.
  • To promote a climate of teamwork, collaboration and collegiality. Senior residents will participate in coordinating at least one annual multidisciplinary case conference.
  • To provide diverse clinical experiences that expose residents to patients from different backgrounds and with varying levels of need, fostering empathy and understanding.
  • To encourage residents to reflect on their interactions with patients, discussing challenges and successes to enhance self-awareness and empathy.
  • To have an optimal clinical learning environment that will promote well-being and resiliency.
