High blood pressure impacts more than one billion people around the world

[Fox 9 News, September 24, 2025] 1.4 billion people around the world live with hypertension (high blood pressure), and most of them do not have it under control, according to The World Health Organization’s latest report. FOX 9 News interviewed Michael Miedema, MD, director of cardiovascular prevention with Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute, to learn more about why this sometimes-silent condition is so dangerous.
