[KMSP Fox 9, February 18, 2018]   Two months after Hannah and Taylor Lindeman welcomed their third daughter, Poppy Noel, into the world, the proud parents finally got a chance to introduce her to the man who helped coach them through the roadside delivery. It was Christmas day on the side of Highway 8 in Chisago County, Minn., and Poppy had no intentions of waiting until the family arrived at the hospital.

[Star Tribune, February 16, 2018]   More than a year after a push for healthier food closed the doors at a McDonald's on the Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus, the medical center in Minneapolis is on the verge of welcoming Panera Bread. The St. Louis-based restaurant chain is scheduled to open a bakery/cafe by month's end, with a menu that includes a few modifications such as no sugared beverages, no fried foods and reduced portion sizes on some bakery items.

[Star Tribune, February 15, 2018]   Abbott Northwestern Hospital plans on spending $29.2 million to build an inpatient unit for patients with strokes, brain tumors and other health problems requiring neuroscience treatments. The Minneapolis hospital projects a 20 percent increase in neuroscience patients over the next 10 years due to the aging of the population and an increase in available treatments, said Tom O’Connor, the interim president at Abbott Northwestern.

[WCCO Radio, February 10, 2018]   Scientists are reporting progress on a blood test to detect many types of cancer at an early stage, including some of the most deadly ones that lack screening tools now. These tests are not available, yet, but Dr. Michaela Tsai , an oncologist with Allina’s Virginia Piper Cancer Institute , told WCCO Radio this new development does hold great promise.
