Allina Health flying Progressive Pride Flag for Pride Month

MINNEAPOLIS (June 1, 2021) — June is Pride Month – a time to recognize, acknowledge, and honor our LGBTQ+ patients, families, employees and community. At Allina Health, we are committed to providing exceptional care to all those we are privileged to serve.

For the first time in Allina Health’s history, we are flying a Progressive Pride Flag at some of our Allina Health hospitals and clinics throughout the month of June. Flying the Progressive Pride Flag is one way we are celebrating the diversity of those who are represented in the colors of the flag and the value that diversity brings to our communities.

We are flying the Progressive Pride Flag to ensure our LGBTQ+ community feels welcome, seen, supported and cared for when they enter our Allina Health facilities.  While flying the Progressive Pride Flag is an important visual symbol of our commitment to creating a welcoming environment in our care system, we are also continuing to listen, learn and improve the care experience we provide for the members of our LGBTQ+ communities. Some examples include:

  • Primary care services focused on LGBTQ+ health
  • Transgender hormone therapy
  • LGBTQ+ mental health services for adults and adolescents
  • Patient Wisdom – an online platform aimed at helping our care teams get to know our patients more broadly. Patient Wisdom offers a guided way for patients to share stories about their lives and their health

Allina Health is committed to providing exceptional care to all those we are privileged to serve. As an organization we are on a Whole Way to Better journey aimed at making care more equitable and inclusive, including co-leading an effort to eliminate structural inequities in health care.
