Scheduling surgery

The transplant team will review your medical history, current health and test results. Once you and the recipient pass all of the tests and are emotionally ready, surgery can be scheduled.

One week before surgery you will go to Abbott Northwestern Hospital to have a history and physical exam, final lab tests, and to receive instructions for surgery. These tests will be done on the same day. The transplant coordinator will schedule these tests.

One week before surgery you and the recipient will have the second cross-match test. If the cross-match is positive, surgery will be canceled. If the cross-match is negative, surgery can go ahead as planned.
