Steamed seasoned green beans

Keep your heart healthy with this well-seasoned side dish — no salt shaker needed!

Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed, rinsed and drained
Water (enough to fill saucepan 1 inch with water)
1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon salt-free seasoning

Directions

  1. Pour water into saucepan until it reaches 1 inch in depth. Place steamer basket in pan. Bring water to a simmer over medium-high heat. Add green beans and cover. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
  2. In a medium serving dish, combine oil, lemon juice and salt-free seasoning. Add hot beans and toss gently, until beans are well-coated.
  3. Serve warm.

You can also steam these beans in the microwave. Place beans in a microwave-safe dish, add 1 tablespoon of water, cover and steam on high for 3 to 4 minutes. Continue with step 2.
