This heart-smart skillet uses plenty of herbs and spices to give aromatic flavor without using a lot of salt (sodium).
1 pound 93% lean ground turkey
1/2 cup diced onion
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons ground sage
1/8 teaspoon ground marjoram
1/8 teaspoon ground coriander
1 14.5-ounce can no-salt-added petite diced tomatoes
1 8-ounce can no-salt-added tomato sauce
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
1 1/4 cups hot water
8 ounces dry whole-grain penne noodles (about 3 1/2 cups)
6 ounces baby spinach
