Cold temperatures can increase the risk of heart attack, according to Joshua Buckler, MD, a cardiologist with Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute. He appeared on WCCO-TV’s morning show to talk about winter heart health. Dr. Buckler explained that heart attack risk rises as temperatures drop and warned that there is typically a 30% surge in heart attacks when snowfall exceeds two inches.
