A Minnesota woman’s late twin provided the donor bone she needed to make a full recovery from a pilon fracture. Chloe Nelson’s twin sister Faith died in a snowmobile crash in January of 2023. Because she was an organ donor, Faith helped save the lives of people across the country. But Faith’s most surprising donation went to Chloe.
In the fall of 2024, Chloe took a bad fall during a hunting trip and suffered a pilon fracture. She needed donor bone to make a full recovery. Her mother tracked Faith’s bone chips in Florida and got them back to Minnesota. Joseph Bellamy, MD, a foot and ankle surgeon with Allina Health orthopedics, completed the surgery to make the repairs. Chloe now shares her story to show the power of medicine and the never-ending bond between her and her twin sister. Watch the video below.
