What you need to know about pancreatic cancer

[WCCO-TV News, November 24, 2025] Pancreatic cancer is challenging because it is difficult to detect early. The pancreas is located in the abdomen behind the stomach. There are no screening tools—such as a mammogram or colonoscopy—for this area. Often, symptoms like rapid weight loss, jaundice or abdominal and back pain signal that something is wrong.

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. Jill May, BSN, OSN, RN, used the opportunity to help educate WCCO-TV viewers about pancreatic cancer. As an oncology nurse navigator with Allina Health Cancer Institute, she serves as a support system for patients by providing education, advocating for them and assisting them with scheduling appointments. You can watch her interview below.
