
“We do a lot of workouts focused on the ankle, the feet, the legs, arms and the core,” shared one participant. “Posture is very important. It is a fall prevention class at the same time.”
Fall Prevention Month is recognized every September. Wisconsin and Minnesota are first and second in the nation when it comes to deadly falls for people over the age of 65, according to a report from The Minnesota Star Tribune. Classes that focus on improving stability are crucial to preventing falls.
The Christoper and Dana Reeve Foundation helped fund the studio, and an initial donation to the Allina Health Foundation from Meredith Low, a long-time supporter of Courage Kenny, turned this studio from a concept into reality.

“I have been going here to pool classes for probably 18 years,” said Low, pictured above holding flowers. “I really love this organization, so I wanted to see more opportunities and other types of classes.”
Low is considering adding the cardio drumming class to her exercise regimen. Registration for the Fall Aquatics and Fitness programs, which include classes in the new fitness studio, opened Monday, September 29. Watch CCX Media's story about the fitness studio below.
