Allina Health and Minnesota United host blood drive

[KMSP Fox 9 News, July 24, 2025] Allina Health partnered with Minnesota United to host a blood drive at Allianz Field in July. More than 60 people signed up to donate blood, an increase from 2024. The two organizations intentionally host this event during the summer months when the need for blood donations is highest.

“Summer is one of the most challenging times to collect blood,” said Kathy Geist, vice president at Memorial Blood Centers (MBC). 

Three things typically contribute to a greater need for blood donors during the summer months:  

• summer travel 

• school breaks  

• an increase in accidents and injuries during summer months.
