Allina Health gives donors and leaders a look inside the campus expansion

[Allina Health Newsroom, June 04, 2025] A milestone in the Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus revitalization project was recently celebrated inside the construction zone at the future Richard M. Schulze Surgical and Critical Care Center in south Minneapolis.

“My hope for everyone who has contributed to this project is that you realize the deep impact that you have made,” said David Joos, president of Abbott Northwestern Hospital. “You will forever be part of the healing mission of Allina Health.”

Joos made the comments during an event marking the completion of the building’s framing. Construction crews and visitors signed a ceremonial beam before it was placed and were given tours of patient care and surgical areas.

Allina Health Foundation donors, including the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, that donated $25 million, are making the Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus expansion possible.
