U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar celebrated Mother’s Day by putting the spotlight on improving maternity care. With The Mother Baby Center as the backdrop, she discussed the Midwives for MOMS (Maximizing Optimal Maternity Services) Act, which is legislation she co-sponsored. The bill aims to improve maternity care outcomes for mothers and babies by addressing the growing provider shortage in maternity care.
The Midwives for MOMS act would expand educational opportunities for:
- Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs)
- Certified Midwives (CMs)
- Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs)

Kathrine Simon, CNM, MS, Midwife & Midwifery Program Manager at The Mother Baby Center. The Mother Baby Center is a partnership between Allina Health and Children’s Minnesota.
