Prostate cancer questions arise after President Biden's diagnosis

[KARE 11 News, May 19, 2025] At age 82, former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. His doctors are calling it aggressive and say it has spread to his bone. That information prompted many people to ask how the cancer wasn't caught earlier. KARE 11 News interviewed Bradrinath Konety, MD, president of Allina Health Cancer Institute, to get some answers. Dr. Konety explained that it is not standard practice to screen for prostate cancer in men over the age of 75. Dr. Konety adds that, "with aggressive treatment, I think he (President Biden) could manage for quite a few years. We've had patients who go on several years with hormone therapy and chemotherapy."
