Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute cardiologist discusses innovative treatment for Tricuspid Regurgitation
[WCCO Radio, May 28, 2024]
In April, Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute announced it was the
first to perform a procedure using Abbott’s TriClip™ transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) system, a minimally invasive therapy to treat patients with a leaky tricuspid valve, a condition known as tricuspid regurgitation (TR). TriClip is a first-of-its-kind therapy that repairs the tricuspid valve in patients, without the need for open-heart surgery and is backed by data demonstrating safety, effectiveness and quality-of-life benefits.
The first procedure was conducted by Paul Sorajja, MD, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Dr. Sorajja was a guest on WCCO Radio to discuss the procedure including how it works and who maybe be eligible.
