NICU patient grows up to become a NICU nurse

[KMSP Fox9, March 13, 2024] Nearly three decades ago, Sammy Warwick was a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patient at Children’s Minnesota’s Minneapolis Hospital. Today, she’s a NICU nurse with The Mother Baby Center at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. The Mother Baby Center is a partnership between Allina Health and Children’s Minnesota.

“I love to be able to tell parents that and see their eyes kind of light up, and it just gives them some more light at the end of the tunnel,” said Warwick.

Warwick’s coworkers believe this is the first time a NICU patient has returned to the hospital system as an employee. Watch Warwick’s story on FOX9 News below.
