Recognizing longtime wheelchair basketball coach during Volunteer Appreciation Week

[KSTP, April 17, 2023] The Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute wheelchair basketball team recently held its annual banquet. It was a chance to recognize the athletes, the staff and the volunteers. Doug Dixon is the head coach of the Jr. Rolling Timberwolves which is a volunteer role.

He has logged more than 5,500 volunteer hours in the position. Dixon became involved when his son played wheelchair basketball for Courage Kenny Sports & Rec.

"It's changed my life, I get way more out of it than the kids do," said Dixon.

Three athletes Dixon coached were just named to Team USA Women's Wheelchair Basketball Team: Josie Aslakson, Abigail Bauleke, and Rose Hollermann.
