How a young, healthy athlete can suffer cardiac arrest

[Fox 9 News, January 03, 2023] Sports fans were shocked when Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a tackle during a football game versus the Cincinnati Bengals Monday night. Hamlin remains hospitalized in critical condition. Allina Health’s William Katsiyiannis, MD, president of the Minneapolis Heart Institute and a cardiac electrophysiologist, talked with multiple media outlets about just what a cardiac arrest is and what likely happened to Hamlin.
