Allina Health volunteer orientation

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Allina Health. All Allina Health volunteers are required to complete orientation, health clearance, pass a background study (18 and older), and attend an onboarding shift before you begin volunteering. If you have any questions, please call 612-262-1780

Please note: your volunteer application and any submitted health documents will be retained for 30 days. Please be sure to complete the steps below within 30 days to ensure you don’t have to reapply and resubmit forms.

1. Orientation

Complete the required orientation tasks (takes about two hours):

  1. Watch the four training videos:
  2. Download and read the volunteer training guide.
  3. Take the volunteer quiz (must pass with at least 85%)

2. Health clearance

Allina Health requires all incoming volunteers to under go a health screening and review of immunizations/vaccinations. Please complete the Allina Health volunteer health clearance form.

Need help with finding your immunization records. Checkout the Find My Immunization Record page on the Minnesota Department of Health website.

If you are 18 and older please complete step 3 before submitting your health form. If you are under 18 please submit the health form to your volunteer coordinator.

3. Background Check  (for applicants 18 and older)

All applicants 18 years and older are required to undergo a background check. Please complete the Background Check Disclosure and Agreement form and submit with your completed health clearance form to your volunteer coordinator.

4. Onboarding shift

Once you completed steps 1 and 2, the volunteer office will contact you with information on how to schedule your onboarding shift. This shift will take place onsite and will last about two hours.

At your onboarding shift you will:

  • Obtain your volunteer uniform and photo ID
  • Discuss volunteer expectations
  • Shadow experienced volunteers (practice using wheelchairs, etc.)
  • Obtain your volunteer schedule
