Minneapolis (April 20, 2026) — Allina Health Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute will present the Discover Abilities Zone at the 2026 Handi Abilities Showcase in St. Paul. The two-day event will be held Saturday, May 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Paul RiverCentre.
The Discover Abilities Zone will bring together more than 25 community partners to showcase adaptive sports and recreation options across Minnesota. Participants will have the opportunity to play sports such as adaptive tennis and wheelchair basketball, as well as try adaptive equipment and assistive technologies. The zone is designed to give community members and clinicians a look at the breadth of services and activities that support engagement, independence and quality of life beyond rehabilitation.
“People with disabilities deserve the same opportunities for recreation, movement and fun as anyone else,” said Michael Kane, Sports & Rec Manager, Allina Health Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute. “We are happy to bring all of the adaptive resources into one space and give everyone, no matter their ability, a chance to try them out and learn more.”
The 2026 Handi Abilities Showcase combines the resources of the Discover Abilities Expo, which welcomed more than 1,000 registered attendees in 2024, and the annual Handi Medical conference, known for attracting more than 500 clinicians, providers and rehabilitation professionals. Bringing these two events together creates a shared learning environment for community members and clinicians from a variety of professional backgrounds.
“Clinicians who work in rehabilitation services, specialized care, advocacy and community-based support will learn about available resources while seeing how these services and programs are received by community members who may use them in the future. It’s a win-win,” Kane said.
The event is open to the public and free. Participants are encouraged to register here: Handi Abilities Showcase.
