MINNEAPOLIS (April 20, 2026) — Allina Health Pharmacy Services invites everyone to check their medicine cabinets and get rid of their unused medications on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day helps Americans easily rid their homes of old, unwanted, or expired medications.
“Leftover prescription drugs are often treated like forgotten clutter, but they’re anything but harmless, as it only takes one pill to become a serious safety issue,” said JoAnne Myhre, drug diversion program manager, Allina Health Pharmacy Services. “The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reminds us that regular, safe disposal of medications is a key part of keeping our families and communities safe.”
To dispose of your medications:
Disposal is free and anonymous. Allina Health retail pharmacies will accept unneeded medications during business hours year round. For more information on collection sites and events, visit the DEA website at https://www.dea.gov/takebackday.
