Allina Health Orthopedics now offers total knee, hip replacements at United Hospital – Hastings Regina Campus

Hastings-area residents can receive expert care close to home for all types of joint replacements, fracture repairs

HASTINGS, Minn. (Nov. 11, 2025) — Hastings-area residents in need of total joint replacements, for hips or knees, can now benefit from expert orthopedic care at United Hospital Hastings Regina Campus with the addition of Paul Lafferty, MD, to the Allina Health Orthopedics team. This addition to the larger orthopedics team in Hastings is part of Allina Health’s commitment to make care more accessible by investing in the communities it serves.

Dr. Lafferty is Allina Health’s first total joint replacement surgeon dedicated to the Hastings area. In addition to partial and total hip and knee replacements Lafferty also specializes in trauma, treating upper and lower extremity fractures. He joins a robust Hastings orthopedic team and enhances the team’s ability to continue delivering comprehensive and expert orthopedic care in other areas such as sports medicine, podiatry and shoulder and elbow care.

"It’s been a few years since the Hastings community has had a physician dedicated to the specialty of hip and knee replacements,” explained Jason Bainbridge, Operations Director for United Hospital Hastings Regina Campus. We’re very grateful to have Dr. Lafferty on staff locally as that means we can now offer a full complement of orthopedic services to meet area patients’ needs.

Approximately 800,000 total knee arthroplasties and 450,000 total hip arthroplasties are performed annually in the United States. These procedures provide significant pain relief and restore function in patients with advanced osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other degenerative joint conditions.1

“With people living longer and desiring to be more active in their later years, I’m eager to help people in Hastings and surrounding communities improve their mobility, so they can get back to enjoying all the things they love to do,” said Dr. Lafferty. “The best part is they can now get full-service, expert care close to home, saving them save time and resources as they don’t have to travel to a metro hospital or specialty center for care.”

Dr. Lafferty will perform surgeries at United Hospital – Hastings Regina Campus Surgical Center and see patients at Hastings Nininger Road Clinic.
