Allina Health New Ulm Medical Center welcomes new mental health clinician

NEW ULM, Minn. (Sep. 15, 2025) — Ashley Wieland, DNP, began her role as the newest mental health clinician at Allina Health New Ulm Medical Center in early September, and she is now accepting new patients.

“I believe in working with my patients, empowering them to play an active role in their treatment to create a personalized plan of care,” explained Wieland. “I want their plan to reflect their challenges, strengths, and goals.”

The New Ulm native is no stranger to New Ulm Medical Center. Wieland worked there as a registered nurse for more than a decade, and she recently earned her psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner degree from the College of Scholastica. She says joining New Ulm Medical Center’s outpatient mental health services team is a natural next step that allows her to continue pursuing her passion of caring for her community, especially first responders.

“I recognize the immense pressures, silent sacrifices, and emotional toll that often come with the job,” said Wieland. “My goal is to provide compassionate care that respects their experiences, supports their resilience, and helps them thrive both on and off duty.”

Wieland’s expertise includes:

  • General Adult Psychiatry
  • Psychiatric Medication Management
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • ADHD
  • Mood disorder

Patients can call 507-217-5168 to set up an appointment with Wieland.
